Hugo van Oostrom is an EBVS recognised specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. He currently works for IVC Evidensia the Netherlands. Next to practicing anaesthesia in small animal referral hospitals, teaching has been, and still is, a significant part of his professional activities. Additionally, he enjoys making a contribution to the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA). He finds it important to convey his knowledge onto colleagues to increase professional standards, and to make sure there will be a next generation to drive the discipline of anaesthesia forward.

Outside of work Hugo enjoys family life, good food, drinks, music, cycling, football and classic motorcycles.
