Stamatina Giannikaki obtained her veterinary degree (DVM) in 2012, followed by a Master’s degree in general surgery and anaesthesia in 2014 (AUTH University, Greece). After a two-year rotating internship and first opinion work she completed a specialty internship program in veterinary ophthalmology (Optivet Referrals, UK). By the end of 2019 she completed the residency of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.
She holds the European Diploma in Veterinary Ophthalmology and is the founder and director of Meyevet, the first  specialist-led ophthalmology referral service in veterinary medicine in Athens, Greece.
Matina is also a consultant in selected referral centers in the UK and Cyprus and is involved internationally in the training of students, trainee vets, ECVO residents and general practitioners.
She has a particular interest in intraocular surgery and ocular biomaterial research.
